Day 1 - June 15 - Introduction, Pre-Assessment, Activities, Resources
Dr. Rivera,
I want to thank you for offering this class, and I am very happy to learn from one of the very best teachers! I am not tech savvy at all, but I realize that it's a must that I have the knowledge and tools to be able to teach the students of our modern world of evolving technology.
I've always read Dr. Rivera's blogs from our different associations and organizations, such as International Literacy Association (ILA), Guahan Isan Famagu'on Lions Club (GIFLC), Pacific Islands Bilingual Bicultural Association (PIBBA), and USCG Auxiliary. Every article, every piece of information provide interesting and vital material. The best thing that I like about the blogs is that they are archived.
What I learned the most is that there is a whole world of resources that I can pick and choose from, especially how I can incorporate so many things using technology. There are so many topics and issues that can help me to broaden my students' learning, such as using Artificial Intelligence (AI) and blogging. I enjoyed collaborating with my classmates, and I especially admire how Dr. Rivera ensures that her students are learning with ease and understanding.
I am embracing this lesson of learning to be able to navigate educational technology through literacy. I want all my students to be able to excel as they read with comprehension.
I am enjoying this class!

Si Yu'os Ma'ase', Mae, for your kind words and thoughtful reflection. Your commitment to embracing new tools, including AI and blogging, demonstrates the growth mindset that makes great educators successful.
ReplyDeleteI am especially pleased that you have enjoyed collaborating with your classmates and exploring resources that can support your students’ reading comprehension and academic success. Keep building your confidence with educational technology. Your dedication to lifelong learning will undoubtedly have a positive impact on your students and their future achievements. Thank you for your active participation and enthusiasm throughout the course!
Thank you, Dr. Rivera! Looking forward to this awesome week!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see our finished blog, Mae! :)
ReplyDeleteYes, I agree with you about these resources. I can see how helpful and meaningful those blogs are, especially since they come from organizations that really support education and literacy in our region and beyond. It’s great that they are also archived because that makes it easier to go back and revisit important information whenever we need it.
ReplyDeleteFor me, I was already familiar with the International Literacy Association (ILA) website, and I’ve found it to be a very reliable and useful source as well and especially it is manage by Dr. Rivera. It’s also interesting to see how you’ve been using different organizations like PIBBA, GIFLC, and USCG Auxiliary to stay informed. I appreciate how these platforms provide practical and relevant insights that we can actually apply in our teaching. I will explore it in the coming days and throughout the rest of the summer. Thank you for sharing.
