Thoughts on my first day of class!

I enjoyed listening to my colleagues discussions on EdTech. I felt buoyed by the fact that I wasn't alone in my frustrations with procuring, implementing and maintaining tech in my classroom. I understood their thoughts about the lack of training, the lack of accountability, the lengthy procurement methods and the realization that any new hardware that I receive, may be outdated at that point.

On the flipside, I am encouraged that my class colleagues are making the most of the resources available to them. I liked that whether they are private or public school teachers, they try to provide avenues for their students to both learn and enrich their previous knowledge of technology. I am also enjoying having different voices in this session. I look forward to viewing their blogs for this class.

My most important takeaway is that I feel the counselors at Academy of our Lady of Guam, like Ms. Tesoro, are amazing, deserve a raise and that my daughter Charlotte is starting in August!
This is in no way me trying to score points with the counselor!

  1. Yes! It is such a long and tedious process in receiving up to date technology for our classrooms. It unfortunate that we share these frustrations, but its not to take comfort that we are not alone in this endeavor. I appreciate you recognizing the hard work that teachers do to provide relevant learning experiences with technology despite this hardship. Just like technology is constantly changing, we too need to adapt and use whatever resources are provided to us to incorporate technology in our lessons.

  2. Go counselor of AOLG! But on the flipside, Edtech is important for all schools for both faculty and students!

  3. Technology is a tool and the teacher is the guide. The teacher needs to have a time when they come together to develop and enhance their use of the tool(s). Working together as a group and listening to other perspective really helps to give us a broader understanding of the world of works and the tools to educate. In as much as we invest in our tools, we try to remember the tool is only as effective as the user. This venue of collaboration is another way we grow as professional users. I struggle with blogs because this is my first time blogging. Regardless, I am confident that as I use the blog more through the upcoming school year, I will master the use of this new tool.
